  • Yes. The Foundation is a separate organization focusing on the broader alpaca industry.

  • Like any other person (Scholarship) or organization seeking funding, AOA must apply for relevant grants. Currently, the Foundation supports The Student Design Scholarship Competition by raising scholarship funds. AOA runs the programmatic function.

  • Absolutely! Any donation can be designated. In fact, you can designate a portion to one fund and a portion of the same donation to another fund or the general fund if you’d like.

  • The General fund will be used to pay administrative costs, which are necessary to any business, and to initiatives or programs the Board feels will benefit the greater alpaca community and are consistent with the Foundation mission and IRS guidelines.

  • Yes, as long as it is consistent with the Foundation’s missions and is allowed by Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

  • We have two scholarship funds:

    1. The Dawn Stewart Memorial Scholarship for large animal veterinary students

    2. The AOA Student Design Competition Scholarship in fashion and textiles

    You can also donate in honor or memory of someone and designate those funds to a current fund or set up a fund in someone’s name. Again, it must be consistent with the Foundation mission and Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.

    You can also leave a legacy by naming the National Alpaca Foundation in your will.

  • Yes. The National Alpaca Foundation is a nonprofit, tax-exempt charitable organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law. ID #31954.

  • No. We can’t help you buy alpacas! But we encourage you to contact your local USDA or NRCS office to learn about grants that could help you with things like sustainable farming practices, solar panels, fencing, and more.
